TranscriptAnglesey is an island situated off the North-West coast of Wales with a coastline about 100 miles long. With its lovely countryside, beautiful beaches, fascinating history and great attractions it is a wonderful place to visit. Tourism is the most significant economic activity on the island. Anglesey has a variety of fascinating attractions, there is always something to do. The favourite attractions are the beaches, from busy seafront to quiet, unspoilt and picturesque expanses of sand. But if you want to do a little bit more than sunbathing on a sandy beach, there are so many activities for you to enjoy. Going on a thrilling boat trip out to sea is a fantastic experience or wandering around Anglesey's towns lets you find a wealth of history and natural attractions. Wherever you go, town or country, you can discover secrets and rich history typical of this ancient island. If you prefer more active holidays, you'll be glad to know that Anglesey is an ideal place for water sports: from scuba diving to surfing, from canoeing to windsurfing. It's also perfect for golfers, cyclists and walkers, because of its many golf clubs, the multitude of cycle routes, circular walks and trails that allow sport-loving people to easily explore the island's towns, coast and countryside. Even discovering Anglesey by bicycle is becoming ever more popular. Bicycles can be hired locally and leisure centres offer free parking, changing rooms and showers. You can even opt to go horse riding or trekking. Finally, if you are interested in history and culture, dive into Anglesey's past. This island has an ancient history that enriches the experience of any visitor. Amongst the most important historic findings are the Edward I medieval castle, the only working windmill remaining in Wales and the mansion of the Marquees of Anglesey that overlooks the Menai Strait, a narrow stretch of shallow tidal water about 14 miles long which separates the island of Anglesey from the mainland of Wales.
