
1.What is a PodCard?
PodCards are audio postcards that you can download to your iPod. They contains information about a particular town or city from different countries around the world or biographies of famous people or events that make these places famous.
2. Can I download them even if I don't have an iPod?
Yes, of course. PodCards are digital audio files that can be played on any mp3 player, on your computer or you can burn them to CD, record them on mini disc, cassette etc.
3. Who are PodCards for?
PodCards are for teachers and students of English as a second language. They provide valuable practice to improve learners' listening skills and give teachers additional classroom material.
4. Do I have to pay?
No. PodCards are absolutely free to download and use. We ask only that you respect the copyright for these materials.
5. How many can I download?
The number of downloads is unlimited.
6. There aren't many PodCards available. Will you add any more?
Yes, of course. We will add one or two new PodCards every week, so come back and check out the country index regularly for the latest additions.
7. Why is there a worksheet with each PodCard?
The worksheets are mainly for ESL teachers to use in class with the audio files. However, students can also use these activities to check their comprehension - but don't read the tapescript first!
8. What does 'low level' and 'high level' mean?
The PodCards are divided into these two levels to allow as many students to benefit from them as possible. Low level PodCards are aimed at students up to and including Pre-Intermediate level - these cards are read at a slower speed and mostly contain structure appropriate to that level ie Present and Past Simple, Present and Past Continuous, comparatives and superlatives, some simple passive forms and a lot of vocabulary. High level PodCards are read at a higher speed, contain more advanced structures and vocabulary and are for Intermediate students and above.
9. How do I download the PodCards?
Go to the Country Index page, click on a country flag. There you have the different PodCards available for that country. To download the mp3 simply click on the icon at the bottom of each card. Your computer will then ask what you want to do with it.
